Merry Christmas!

December 24, 2013

Advent is winding down and Christmas is tomorrow! As one of our first Advent Activities we went to the Ardenwood Christmas Festival. This is the same place that we harvested corn just a few months ago. The Christmas Festival is much less crowded but there is so many fun things to do.

We visited the sheep, the blacksmiths, made Christmas crafts, ate all the yummy treats, and of course, took the little train.

Other than that one big outing, our Advent Activities have mirrored our fall. With Sam in school and the boys and I left to our own devices, we have fallen into a nice, very unscheduled routine. We are doing less than ever, no after school activities, no playdates.  Our advent activities have been in line with this slower routine, we have done such small projects, but the wonderful thing is that it has worked out so nicely. We made paper snowflakes to decorate our front windows, we drank hot cocoa, we made cards for the boys teachers, we sang Christmas songs. It has been so low key, but also so perfect!

Except for making Christmas cookies, that was almost a disaster, but it can’t all go smoothly.

Merry Christmas!

Sometimes I think low key is more fun than something more intense and fraught. Hope you had a happy Christmas x
