Harvest Festival

Last weekend we were supposed to be heading up to Portland to cheer my husband on during his marathon. But my youngest son was sick that week so we canceled the trip and  I stayed home with the boys. Almost as soon and we had canceled the plane tickets, changed the hotel reservations, called in sick to work… he was better! We made the most of it by going to the Ardenwood Farm Harvest Festival. It is held one weekend a year and was so much fun. We had home made ice cream, saw blacksmiths working a forge, a woman spinning yarn on a spinning wheel (my favorite part), and so many other things. Here are some pictures.

We rode on this little train:

The boys had a great time harvesting corn:

They loved the hay maze:

And of course the giant hay pyramid:

A great time was had by all (until about this point in the day when one tired and hungry mom dragged two tired and hungry boys to the car). And my husband did really good in his marathon!
